For proof of this, you need look no further than the basic premise. Dead Space is Resident Evil 4 in space. There's no point trying to deny it, even the developers happily acknowledge it. In an interview with PC Gamer, Visceral Games (then EA Redwood) explain that they initially intended to make System Shock 3. Then they played Resident Evil 4 and immediately reimagined the game as a third-person action horror. It was an entirely deliberate decision. But the change in approach also meant they had to sell a new IP to EA, and to do that they had to make Resident Evil 4 in space excellent.

If you are any sort of gaming fan then this is the event for you. For the second year, Power UP opens today at the Science Museum celebrating 40 years of gaming history with 180 playable consoles, and games from Pong to Pacman and Mario to Minecraft. It runs until Tuesday 31 October. We we’re kindly invited to the event last night to get a sneak peak at what to expect and it was an excellent night out. The exhibition runs through the day but in the evening several adult-only sessions will run during the evenings of 26 and 27 October and Power UP will also feature as part of the Science Museum’s Lates on Wednesday 25 October, giving friends and competitive colleagues the perfect opportunity to battle it out on 18+ favourites including DOOM, Resident Evil and Grand Theft Auto. Lates will also feature a unique celebration of the 40-year history of video games with direct insight from some of the very minds and personalities that shaped it. The Evolution of Video Games will feature panel discussions and Q&As with games industry luminaries - including Phil Harrison (formerly of Sony and Microsoft), Chris and Jason Kingsley (Rebellion) and Jon Hare (Sensible Software) – and the world premiere of footage from the forthcoming documentary The PlayStation Revolution, created by Anthony and Nicola Caulfield (Bedrooms to Billions, The Amiga Years). You can book tickets via the Science Museum website now. A big thanks to the Science Museum for inviting us along!

Polygon: "The Evil Within 2 represents one of the starkest and most astounding turnarounds from a debut title to its sequel that Ive ever witnessed. Its a brilliant horror game, one that understands when to ratchet up tension and when to pull back and let you collect yourself. If the first game was a failed attempt to capture the spirit of Shinji Mikamis classic Resident Evil 4, the sequel is a successful attempt at something much better: finding a chilling, exhilarating voice of its own."
